Maalik Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajkummar’s Film Sees A Slow Start; Mints 52% Less Than Bhool Chuk Maaf

Maalik Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajkummar Rao, who was last seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf earlier this year, is all over the headlines these days and rightfully so. After all, he is here with the new release Maalik which has been creating waves ever since it was announced. Directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, Maalik is an action thriller. The movie features Rajkummar Rao in the titular role along with Manushi Chhillar as the female lead.

Interestingly, Maalik marks Rajkummar's first collaboration with Manushi. Apart from the lead pair, Maalik also features Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, Huma Qureshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, and Saurabh Shukla. Maalik revolves around a common man and his gripping story of rise as a gangster in UP. As Maalik was released amid massive buzz in the town, it opened to a mixed response.

Maalik Fails To Beat Bhool Chuk Maaf On Day 1

Interestingly, Maalik has minted over 52% less than Rajkummar's previous release Bhool Chuk Maaf on the opening day. For the uninitiated, Bhool Chuk Maaf had minted Rs 7 crores on its day of release.

Meanwhile, Maalik has been facing consistent comparisons with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal and Allu Arjun's Pushpa. However, in his conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rajkummar had set the record straight and stated, "Every story has its own soul. We're not trying to replicate anyone. We're telling a story that's raw, real, and rooted in its own world".
