After making headlines for his recent release Deva, the actor is now making waves in the industry for the re-release of his historical drama. We are talking about Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat which also featured Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The movie was initially released in 2018 and turned out to be a massive hit among fans and even opened to rave reviews from the audience.
Now, Padmaavat is back again in the headlines as it has now re-released in theatres today (February 6, 2025). For the uninitiated, the historical drama featured Deepika as Rani Padmavati while Shahid was paired opposite Deepika as Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. On the other hand, Padmaavat also featured Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and left everyone in absolute awe of his performance. And now that Padmaavat has re-released in theatres, there have been speculations about how it will fare at the box office

In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat, film business expert Rohit Jaiswal stated that Padmaavat will be having a slow start at the box office and is likely to rake in Rs 20-30 lakhs on the opening day.
Will Padmaavat Surpass Its Original Collection Post Re-Release?
Interestingly, there have been speculations if Padmaavat will surpass its original opening day collection. However, as per the recent reports, it will fail to beat its original day 1 collection. For the uninitiated, Padmaavat had minted Rs 19 crores on its day of release in 2018.
Meanwhile, Ranveer got candid about his character of Allauddin Khilji and stated that he wanted to make it even darker and more of an extremist. Talking about the same, he stated, "As an actor, I need to be honest with the script. I used the script as my textbook. For the most part, I take my cues from what is written." While Ranveer emphasised, "In fact, I wanted to make Khilji darker and even more of an extremist," he also mentioned that Sanjay Leela Bhansai molded him this time
