In a candid conversation with India Today, Rashmika Mandanna shared her excitement about her involvement in the film "Sikandar." She expressed her disbelief and joy at the opportunity to work alongside Salman Khan, marking a significant milestone in her career. Mandanna highlighted that the project held a special appeal for her due to its blend of commercial elements with depth and emotion, which she found compelling.
Rashmika Mandanna detailed how the film's producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, reached out to her with an intriguing proposition. Initially, while she was in Vizag for another shoot, the first assistant director presented the story to her. Mandanna was instantly captivated by the narrative. Her eagerness grew when she learned about Salman Khan's involvement in the project, leading her to ponder how she had managed to secure such a remarkable opportunity.
She elaborated on her criteria for selecting film projects, emphasizing her preference for commercial movies that also offer substantial emotional depth. This perspective guided her decision to join "Sikandar." Mandanna's recount of the moment underscores her dedication to choosing roles that resonate on a deeper level, beyond mere entertainment.
"Being able to reach the place where you get to work with SK (Salman Khan). It just feels like you've done something right. So, when I got this call, I knew that, OK, I want to do commercial films, but I wanted depth in commercial films and I needed emotions in commercial films. And that's when it sort of attracts me to do the film. So Sajid (Nadiadwala, producer) sir first made the call, and he said, 'OK, we have something really exciting for you.' I was just like, 'OK, sir, let me take up the narration', and I was in Vizag at the moment shooting for something else. So, the first AD came, he narrated the story, and I fell in love with it, and I went to the next portion of it and asked, OK, what is the star cast looking like? And when they mentioned SK, I was like, how in the world did I get here?" Mandanna's reflection on her initial reaction upon being offered a role in "Sikandar" reveals her enthusiasm and the importance she places on the substance of a film.
