Interestingly, as Bhooth Bangla has been facing strong competition from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2, it failed to beat the espionage thriller with a huge gap at the Indian box office. For the uninitiated, Dhurandhar 2 had minted Rs 102.55cr on day 1 in India excluding the paid previews. It will be interesting to see if Bhooth Bangla can turn the tables in the coming days.

Meanwhile, talking about reuniting with Akshay, Priyadarshan told PTI, "Every film I've made with him has been a super hit. People say that you are the reason Akshay (does comedy), but I don't believe in all those things. What I did was exploit his sense of humour (on screen). We are working after 14 years and I hope things will work. It's a challenge. We can't match the expectations (of the audience) but I'm trying my best".
