Haunted 3D Echoes Of The Past Today Collection: Mimoh’s Film Sees Huge Dip; Fails To Earn 50L In Morning
Haunted 3D Echoes Of The Past Today Box Office Collection: Vikram Bhatt's Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past has become one of the most discussed horror releases of the week, even as audience reactions remain divided. The film, led by Mimoh Chakraborty and Chetna Pande, arrived as a follow-up to the 2011 horror hit Haunted 3D. The sequel also marks Mimoh Chakraborty's return to the horror space after 15 years, giving the film added recall value among fans of the original. Its trailer had generated strong curiosity before release, mainly because of the franchise connection and Bhatt's long association with the genre.

It opened alongside Diljit Dosanjh's Main Vaapas Aaunga and Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, making the competition tougher from day one. Reviews, however, have been mixed. While some viewers responded to the film's horror setting, others criticised its screenplay and visual effects. Despite that, the film held reasonably well through its opening weekend before seeing a sharp drop on its first Monday, a common test for theatrical releases after initial fan-driven footfalls.

Meanwhile, Vikram Bhatt penned an emotional note about Haunted 3D release and wrote, "Two and a half years ago, Haunted: Echoes of the Past began as just another film. Born of the success of 1920: Horrors of the Heart, and like every new film, it was built on hope, excitement, and the belief that the road ahead would be easier. Ten days into the shoot, money ran out. Most films would have died here. Not this one. We borrowed money on interest, negotiated with vendors, and somehow kept the cameras rolling. Every day felt like a balancing act - keeping the film alive and keeping the wolves from the door. Just when things seemed to stabilize, production challenges arrived. Then post-production challenges. Then VFX challenges. Every problem that could have appeared seemed determined to find its way to us". Recalling his time in jail and the legal challenge around the release, Vikram emphasised that how distributors and exhibitors were nervous.
"Then the film was cleared. Even then, due to the uncertainty surrounding the court order, the showcasing remained limited. The release entered theatres wounded. By every conventional yardstick, it should have struggled. Instead, something extraordinary happened. The audience arrived. In the end, all I wanted was for the world to meet Haunted. And when it finally did, That was enough. That was everything," he added.
