Bhatts were never original. And they had no airs about accepting their inspirations. This time again, director Vikram Bhatt seeks inspiration but not from a Hollywood DVD. Allegedly his latest film Ankahee revolves around his own life story. What would you call this? An original inspiration?
Ankahee, reportedly, is loosely based on his real-life episode with ex-girlfriend Sushmita Sen. Interestingly the film stars Vikram's current girlfriend, Amisha Patel, not in Sushmita's role though. The female protagonist of the beauty queen's character is played by Esha Deol. Vikram's lucky charm, Aftab Shivdasani (Kasoor, Awara Pagal Deewana) plays Vikram's character in Ankahee.
The teaser just introduces the three main characters of the movie. It opens with a glazy looking Esha Deol smoking out of stress. Flashes of Aftab and Amisha follow with a love making scene between Aftab and Esha. 'Some stories are best left unsaid.... Except this one' says the tagline of the film.
The promo ends on a grave note with Esha Deol saying, "Is darwaze ke bahar jo duniya hai wahan log mujhe nahi Miss World ko dekhna chahte hai". Esha is shown in the Miss World pageant thereby implying the story's resemblance to Sushmita's. However, the only glitch is that Sushmita was Miss Universe. Perhaps that's intentional so that the makers maintain the introductory line saying 'All characters in the film are fictitious and any resemblance to people, living or dead, is unintentional'.
