Mallika Sherawat's reality check.

If you make it into a Hollywood film, you definitely have something special in you and if you happen to be cast against a universal superstar like Jackie Chan then you are big.

This seems to have been the case with Bollywood's siren Mallika Sherawat. After The Myth, the film in which she starred with Jackie Chan, Mallika has become a known personality at an international level. She was seen everywhere on newspapers, television, over internet, giving interviews and promoting the film with the action star. After getting such international reputation, Mallika must've considered a change in the roles she would choose in Bollywood.

However, things did go the way she had thought they would. When Mallika was offered Shaadi Ke Pehle, in which she plays a sex bomb, she was apprehensive about doing the film. Of course Mallika was excited to do a film with Mukta Arts, but she wasn't really sure if it was right for her to play a second fiddle, especially after signing a Jackie Chan film. So Mallika initially refused to do Shaadi Se Pehle. Anyways, it was during the same period that her film Bachke Rehna Re Baba released, and well, the actress got a reality check. Looking at the film's performance at the Box Office, Mallika just might have realized that starring in an international flick doesn't necessarily really put you on the Aishwarya Rai track. One needs to pack in a lot more to build a successful career as an actor.

An advice was given to her by Satish Kaushik, the director of Shaadi Se Pehle and her secretary Kalim. They convinced her to continue playing sex bomb in a couple of movies to come till she gets herself recognized as a serious actor. After hearing from the wisemen, Mallika agreed and went ahead with Shaadi Se Pehle.

Looks like the actress is gradually realizing that the "assets" don't really work always. Over a period of time, one also needs to grow a lot as an actor to sustain in this cut throat competition.
