The proverbial song and dance routine. An inseparable part of Bollywood! It is these dances that add the much needed masala and make the film more chatpata for the audience! In fact, being a dancer is one of the pre requisites of being a Bollywood star! Be it the Jumping Jack Jeetendra of the 70s or the rubber like flexible steps of Hrithik Roshan in the millennium, dance is an important part of Bollywood. Yet, there are many a stars who have made it, in spite of being lousy dancer.

When we think of dreadful Bollywood dancers, one glaring example is that of the entire Deol clan! It was Dharmendra who gained popularity with the clumsy rendition of Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana in the 70s. Goofy as it was, this Punjab da puttar won hearts all over with his dashing good looks! His older son, Sunny Deol joined Bollywood in the 80s, only to carry forward his father's legacy of bad dancing. But just like his father, Sunny, too developed a massive fan following owing to his action oriented roles. But till date, probably Sunny Deol's worst dance performance was in the 1996 Jeet in which he danced alongside Karisma Kapoor. However, the youngest Deol proved that the two left feet weren't in his genes! Not a Hrithik in the making, but Bobby can pull off some tough steps.

Another actor from Sunny Deol's generation, namely Anil Kapoor was type cast as a bad dancer. And this in spite of the fact that his typically tapori steps of One Two Ka Four were quite the rage in that era. In fact choreographer, Farah Khan has gone on record saying that he is one of the worst dancers!

The 90s rolled around and brought with them actors like Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar. These two were always pitted against each other and Suniel Shetty got all the flak for his lumbering steps! Yet, Suniel managed to hold his own throughout the nineties. Even today his career is going great guns, what with his very own production house.

The 90s clearly belonged to the Khans who won the hearts of millions. Eventually, the new millennium marked the entry of two prominent star kids into Bollywood, namely Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan. In fact both of them debuted the same year. Hrithik with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Abhishek Bachchan with Refugee. Both of them belonging to celebrated Bollywood families, comparisons were inevitable. Hrithik was turned into an overnight star with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai whereas Abhishek was left to face the brickbats. His dancing was described as 'awkward' 'gawky'. Ironically he featured in a movie titled Naach. But the tables have turned and Abhishek is having the last laugh with last years biggest dance hits, being picturized on him. From Dus Bahane, Kajra Re, Nach Baliye to Bluffmaster! he has it all on his list.

Some other hunky heroes who cannot exactly shake a leg include Arjun Rampal and John Abraham. Yet, they have the entire female population going ga-ga over them! Another actor who's had the biggest club hits this year is Emraan Hashmi. However, we are yet to see his dancing skills.

It's a proven fact that a film can't do without its regular jhatkas and matkas! Yet these so called non dancing heroes have managed to survive in tinseltown! And have danced their way right into our hearts!
