"Making a movie is like preparing for a battle" says director Nagesh Kukunoor who belongs to real cinema. After giving a remarkable movie like Iqbal it was quite obvious that audiences expect something equally challenging from him now. Known for his unique style of dealing with realistic cinema, Nagesh has announced his next movie Dor (meaning String) with Sahara One Motion Pictures. IndiaFM spoke to the writer, director Nagesh Kukunoor about this film and his alleged fall out from Mukta Arts.
Film
making
is
a
challenge
Every
time
when
I
announce
films,
I
feel
a
challenge
for
myself.
After
Iqbal
I
did
not
take
any
break
rather
I
was
working
on
the
script
of
this
movie.
I
wanted
to
come
up
with
something
equally
challenging.
I
hope
Dor
will
accomplish
all
the
expectations
that
people
expect
from
me.
Dor
was
never
Ashayein
Dor
was
never
Ashayein.
Ashayein
is
my
other
film
project,
which
is
yet
to
start.
As
of
now,
I
am
concentrating
on
Dor.
It's
an
emotional
drama
rather
a
visually
dramatic
film.
It
has
three
protagonists
in
the
movie.
Dor
is
inspired
from
a
real
life
story
of
two
women
from
Kerala.
Their
experiences
inspired
me
to
write
a
script.
I
have
made
some
changes
to
make
it
interesting.
Real
life
inspiration
In
a
metaphorical
sense
this
movie
is
about
that
invisible
thread
that
binds
two
strong
women.
It's
about
two
women
protagonists,
Zeenat
and
Meera,
whose
lives
are
quite
parallel
and
how
they
connect
to
each
other
through
a
catalyst
played
by
Shreyas
Talpade.
It's
about
how
a
woman
goes
in
search
of
another
woman
to
save
her
husband's
life.
Ayesha
fits
the
bill
It's
not
a
woman
oriented
film
rather
it
deals
with
three
dominant
characters
while
two
of
them
are
female
protagonists.
Actress
Ayesha
Takia
and
Gul
Panag
play
the
role
of
Meera
and
Zeenat.
Gul
is
a
fine
actress.
She
has
played
quite
serious
roles
in
her
other
movies
but
Ayesha,
though
she
deals
with
glamorous
part
of
cinema,
is
accomplished
for
a
different
kind
of
role.
I
saw
her
movie
Socha
Na
Tha
and
I
think
she
is
the
one
who
fits
the
bill.
Shreyas:
the
surprise
element
Shreyas
is
someone
I
would
I
always
love
to
work
with.
He
has
tremendous
potential
as
an
actor.
After
Iqbal
people
thought
that
that
Shreyas
can't
talk
but
my
movie
Dor
will
clear
all
misconceptions.
He
is
a
fun
loving
boy
and
quite
outgoing
personality.
However
his
role
in
Iqbal
was
diverse
to
his
personality.
In
Dor
he
plays
a
catalyst
that
brings
these
women
together.
He
is
the
surprise
element
of
the
movie.
No
fall
out
from
Mukta
Arts
A
story
is
not
a
story
without
any
controversy.
But
I
would
like
to
explain
that
I
have
no
ill
feelings
for
Mr
Ghai.
There
is
nothing
as
such,
which
media
has
reported.
I
am
very
much
part
of
Mukta
arts
and
will
continue
to
work
for
them.
I
will
be
doing
their
next
film.
There
was
a
false
report
about
my
fallout
from
Mukta.
