'I cannot believe in spirits as I'm a cop in the film', says the young man. 'It is a very, very scary flick. There haven't been any really scary films off late and Aatma will fill in that gap now.'
On questioning the credibility of the Ramsays being a B-grade production house, pat comes the reply, 'Grade in not an issue. Now, if this film was directed by someone new I would have refused it outright but since it was Deepak Ramsay, then it's a different case altogether. A good director matters the most to me.' Here's a guy convinced of the films that he is doing. 'Not only that. The special effects will blow you away. You should check out the way in which the spirit changes her appearance. It's freakingly awesome.'
Now for some fun! We tried to get some thing bad about the film from him - anything - unnecessary sex, blood shedding violence, slasher dolls or just sex-starved ghosts. 'No way! This is one of those quality Ramsay films that come out and leave you spellbound. No sex and especially no unnecessary sex.' So much for fun!
From a two timing pervert in Souten to a law abiding cop in Aatma, it must have been a difficult transformation 'It is a challenging role as I have different shades in the film. I keep on suspecting different people and accuse them of a murder. I have 5-6 action sequences in the film which I have performed myself. Now that was challenging.'
A murderous force and naach gaana. Not a likely combination. Hmm... 'Music is not really essential in this film. Aha! Finally an unlikely entity in the film. A reverting piece of information follows. 'The background score is important though. There is a promotional song which is very scary as well and an item number where some killings take place.'
How was it working with the hot bhoot and the rest of the possible murderous clan. 'Neha is a funny and nice girl and we had a great time on the sets. As for Kapil Jhaveri, he is a good guy as well. Amerina is sweet like any new-comer. Great fun working with all of them!'
And what after the Aatma rises? 'I will always be around. I'm currently shooting in Goa for a film Old is Gold. It's an out an out comedy and stars probably the best comedians in Indian cinema; Asrani, Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor. I have different shades in all my films. Souten was an emotional film, Aatma is a horror flick while Old is Gold is a comedy. Of the different genres I would definitely prefer comedy. The script, the role and the director is important than banners. I would love to work with Priyadarshan.'
On a parting note: 'I believe in destiny, hard work and blessings of my parents and God.'
