Anil makes calls in Sonam's career

Anil Kapoor is busy handling beti Sonam"s acting career these days.

Star fathers and mothers have always been known to look after (and even handle) their children"s careers in B-Town and star daddy Anil Kapoor is no exception.

Says a source, “Anil Kapoor has taken over handling his daughter Sonam"s career. So much so that he has even put his work on the back burner. A lot of producers are approaching Anil with films for Sonam but he wants the to wait until after Sanjay Leela Bhansali"s Saawariya releases.

Anil is an extremely emotional and protective father and though he knows he can"t shield drive her career, he wants to make sure it goes in a certain direction. His experience in the industry as and actor, and a producer can be invaluable for the budding actress in his home."

Helping out

Anil is currently busy completing the shoot of Yash raj Films Tashan. He is the concerned father, “If Sonam needs guidance, advice and help, yes, I am there and will always be there for her. I am telling people who want Sonam for their films that right now she is focusing only on Saawariya.

I am doing my best to guide her till she comes of age. Sonam is wise and strong enough to fight her own battles. I am trying to involve her in each and every aspect of filmmaking."

The source says, “Anil has taken a break from work right now and is busy planning her career. He has been refusing most of the offers that are coming her way because he wants Sonam to work only with the best.

Ranbir has signed Vidhu Vinod Chopra"s next directed by Raju Hirani and Yash Raj Films" next. Anil feels two or three films a year under very big banners are enough for her."

Not on break

But Anil denies that his career is on hold. He says, “I haven"t taken any break. But whenever Sonam needs me, I make sure I am there. After Tashan, I will start shooting for Subhash Ghai"s Yuvraj. My second home production Short Cut is also underway. Shooting is on right now.

Yes, I want Sonam to work with the biggest and best of banners as a father, I want the best for my children. In today"s times, working in a couple of good banners a year is enough. Every top hero is doing that."

What advice is daddy dearest giving to Sonam now? Anil laughs, trademark wit in place, “I haven"t given her any advice but everybody"s giving me advice about what to do with Sonam. I am enjoying that."
