Bipasha Basu is on a high. After being crowned Asia"s Sexiest Woman by the British newspaper, Eastern Eye her next film with beau John Abraham is releasing this week.
A chat with the Bong Bombshell about her on-screen kiss with beau John; and Goal, which she says is not about John and her:
You"ve done your second kissing scene with John in Goal?
Yes! John and I have kissed in Goal. It"s no big deal! It"s a different kind of smooching and not those hot, passionate ones, one is used to seeing. It"s more tender and emotional. You have to watch it to know what it is.
You and John have many tender moments in the film?
John and I had many cute romantic scenes which take place mostly in locker rooms. I have never played such a forward woman where I flirt voraciously with the guy I"m in love with. I am more used to John flirting. I am not used to flirting with anybody. I feel awkward as I think it"s for the man to make the first move. This particular scene is not verbose but very real and intimate."
You saw Goal on Sunday. How was it?
It"s very inspirational and has some great football visuals. The game is authentic, entertaining and real. Goal is also one of John"s finest performances. He will emerge with flying colours. I play a cute, refreshing part but it"s not a film where I carry any merit. The boys, John and Viveik Agnihotri have put in a great effort. It"s their film.
Then why take up Goal?
I love sports like football and cricket and there are not too many sports films being made. I don"t know when I will be offered another sports film again. If people are coming to see John and my romance on screen, they will be disappointed. It"s not about that. Goal is a sports film where the underdogs finally win.
You have different looks in Goal.
It"s a realistic film so I didn"t want to wear too much make-up. I play a young modern girl from Southall who"s not very affluent and I dressed according to the need of the character. Rocky S did my look and styling. In Goal, I mostly wear track pants, sweat shirts and physio jackets. I was given spectacles.
And on the personal front…
John and I were in Malaysia some time ago for the Sepang Motorcycle Grand Prix where I saw a bike race for the first time. It was exhilarating. I love riding bikes as long as the speed is in control. John is a good rider. He has full respect for his bike and the road and doesn"t break any rules. Now I want learn all kinds of dancing from salsa to classical jazz.
You"ve been voted Asia"s Most Sexy Woman by Easter Eye.
It feels good. It"s not about competing with the other names all these people have made their names over the years but it"s great to have so many people voting for you. I have never felt hot or sexy. I feel I am fun rather than sexy. But I do work hard on my USP, my sex appeal.
