Big budgets movies have failed to impress the Bollywood audience in the year 2007. Movies like Eklavya – The Royal Guard, Ramgopal Varma Ki Aag, Salam-E-Ishq Tara Rum Pum, Marigold and Nishabd have failed to pull the audience to the theaters. The big budgets that did well were Chak De India, Partner, Heyy Babyy and Guru. However a lot more was expected of Guru but it could not live up to the expectations.

Low budget comedies provided some breather to the industry. Bheja Fry, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd did well across the country. Even among the big budgets Partner and Heyy Babyy were comedies. Critics argue it would be close to impossible to repeat the success of 2006 as it was an exceptional year for the industry. Blockbusters like Rang De Basanti, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Fannah, Krissh and Dhoom 2 had grossed well that year.

The year 2007 has been a mixed year for the industry. The audience has outrightly rejected some of the big budget nonsense like Ramgopal Varma Ki Aag and Marigold, on the other hand has appreciated well scripted movies such as Life In a Metro and Traffic Signal. With movies Johnny Gaddaar and Bhool Bhulaiyaa doing well the industry expects to end the year on a good note.
