Mahesh Bhatt speaks about Emraan

When Murder became a big hit in 2004 Emraan was disappointed. He had every right to be since Mallika Sherawat had walked away with all the credit. Every newspaper and network spoke only of Mallika Sherawat but what everyone along with Emraan was failing to see was that it was HE who was getting the whistles from all the front benchers at the cinema halls throughout the country. The seed of his stardom was sown and although the process of it growing into something bigger was taking place under the surface not many could see it until one day when it finally bloomed.

If you ask me what is it that makes him work this is what I have to say. Emraan is one of the few actors who has the audacity to be distinct. What makes him stand out is he does not try to erase his own personality to be accepted. Just like a weed does not try to be a rose Emraan does not t try to emulate what the classes and the critics want him to. Just like the weed does not care whether you praise it or crush it, Emraan does not care if you praise him or criticize him. And that is what makes him special. In this frenzy of competition in Bollywood in which everyone is trying to out distance and out shine his neighbor, it's a relief to see someone like Emraan who is a reluctant star. He is okay with his ordinariness and that is what is extraordinary about him. Watch this ordinary boy's extraordinary performance in Awarapan and you will know what I am talking about
