It was the very popular 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman' remix video that made Meghna Naidu a recognized face. It led to her signing a couple of hugely hyped raunchy films in a row. But after all of them sank without a trace, Meghna disappeared to work in the South and is now hoping for a revival of sorts with a few other videos as well as high profile stage shows with the original 'Disco Queen', Asha Bhonsle. In an exclusive talk from Muscat where she is performing with Asha Bhonsle, she talks about this new endeavor and makes it clear that she is content with whatever she has.

She is superbly excited about making a comeback in a music video which gave her career a start. "It was an interesting opportunity. And there are two music videos that I am back with. One is the 'Aap Jaisa Koi' remix and the other is the 'Sutta' reverse. I am very excited about both as they are very interesting and diverse. Sutta reverse is one album which my friends can hum and make a statement as it is anti smoking," informs Meghna. And the joy of performing with Asha Bhonsle is obviously something to be treasured.

"Stage always gives me a creative high and when I hear music, my feet moves as though they were always meant to. I just love dancing. It was a great opportunity," she states happily.

And she reveals that the time that she spent away from Bollywood was fruitful as well. "I did not exactly take a break. I was doing South films and was busy there. Now that my commitment is over, I am doing videos and a Hindi film as well," she lets us know. Meghna who was little bulky in the past has now suddenly lost oodles of weight and is looking fitter than ever. So has she been working out a lot? "It is just work. There is no conscious effort at weight reduction. I enjoy dancing and I guess I have lost weight now that everyone is mentioning it," she gushes.

Hawas, Jackpot and Rain were her only three Hindi releases. But the latest buzz is that Meghna is not interested anymore in doing such films. So how true are these talks? "I am doing a very interesting Hindi film where I have consciously opted for a deglamorised role. It is time that people took notice of my acting skills," she says making it clear that it's going to be serious stuff for her from now on. Is she unhappy that she is not getting the kind of roles that suit her talent? "I began with a music video which actually shot me to fame. After that, whatever offers I got were all because of my item girl image. Now, I am looking at serious roles and see, my concert with Asha Bhonsle is quite substantial too," she asserts.

While the other sex symbol Mallika Sherawat who came around the same time, has shifted to contemporary roles, do we see Meghna moving towards the same too? "Each actress brings with her own style. Mallika is outspoken and I am more of an introvert and when I am not working, I am at home with family. And honestly, I am happy with the kind of work I am doing," she retorts. Guess Meghna has a big ace up her sleeve. She is superstitious and so kicked up about her next project that she is not willing to talk much about it. "My Hindi film, oh it's amazing. I will tell you about that soon," she signs off excitedly.

If all goes well, Meghna Naidu will surely make the world sit up and notice!
