If you were disappointed that Govinda was just relegated to being a second fiddle in Bhagam Bhag, Salman Khan wasn't that effective in Salaam-e-Ishq and director David Dhawan wasn't at his best in his last few attempts, there is one answer to all of them - Partner.

Partner is special for reasons more than one.

  • Firstly because it brings together the most dependable team of Govinda and David Dhawan when it comes to comedy in Hindi cinema, after 4 years (their last film together was Ek Aur Ek Gyarah in 2003)
  • Secondly because it brings together a fresh pairing of Govinda and Salman Khan whose combined chemistry remains untapped so far despite they came together a couple of times earlier.
  • Thirdly because the leading lady Katrina Kaif has been paired opposite Govinda and not Salman Khan as one would have expected, which makes the partnership all the more interesting.

Is that all? No, there's much more to Partner. Prem, of course as the name implies, is played by Salman Khan who is a Love Guru in the film giving out tips to Govinda to woo Katrina with whom he is madly in love with. Of course like any other David Dhawan film you are strongly advised to leave your brains behind so that you can laugh without a second thought, nonstop for 150 minutes.

The film spoofs everything from Don (played by Rajpal Yadav), Aamir Khan from Rang De Basanti to Sholay. David doesn't even spare himself with satirical takes on his own films where Govinda shows dhinchak steps to Salman through the notorious number Sarkailo Khatiya (Raja Babu) and Salman teaches Govinda to groove better by dancing to Just Chill (Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya) - both numbers being from Dhawan's earlier hits.

The scene where Govinda meets Katrina's friend Kiran is hilarious since this Kiran is not a girl but a gay played by Suresh Menon. The gay act continues with even Govinda getting into a drag as a gay in a wedding scene. Sanjay Chhel's humour-soaked one liners are awesome turning out to be a major highlight of the film.

The animation introducing Salman Khan is awesome and the end credits roll on with the 'by now popular' Govinda-Salman Khan dance act from IIFA. Director David Dhawan can be seen as a bystander in one of the scenes. But off screen he is outstanding gaining back all the credence and proving why he is titled as the comedy king in Bollywood.

This is in true terms the perfect comeback for the comic genius Govinda who is at his hilarious best. And with Salman the combo is 1 + 1 = 3.

So book your tickets in advance for this Friday and don't forget that we recommended this movie to you.
