Sanju baba's 'valuable' gift to Gupta...

Two weeks before Gups's birthday, Sanjay Dutt gifts his good buddy a rare Cartier watch

Last week, Sanjay Dutt surprised good friend Sanjay Gupta by gifting him a rare collector's watch as a birthday present (April 14), two weeks before his big day.

Says a source close to Gupta, "It's an extremely rare Cartier Santos 100 Chronograph watch in gold.

It weighs a pound and costs a bomb, over Rs 15 lakh. Gupta has more than 20 watches in his collection and loves acquiring collector items.

This Cartier watch was on his wishlist for a long time and Gups was toying with the idea of buying the watch himself before Dutt got wind of it and bought it for him."

The source adds, "Gupta first got the watch from a dealer and he kept it in his office cabin for a few days. He was in two minds about purchasing it, as it's very expensive.

One day, Sanju walked into the office and saw Gupta looking longingly at the watch, before telling him that he was thinking about buying it but wasn't sure he was willing to pay the price.

A couple of days later, he called the dealer to inform him that he wasn't buying it. Imagine his surprise when the dealer told him it had already been bought and paid for by Dutt.

When Gupta called Dutt to ask him why he had made such a gesture, Dutt told him, 'It's your birthday gift'."

Gupta, who has been busy shooting for Dus Kahaniyan, admits that Sanju gave him a "fabulous" gift but doesn't want to spill the details.

"He gave me a mind-blowing birthday present, but it's personal so I would rather not talk about it. It's the sort of thing only Sanjay can do. He's a friend who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

As for Dutt, he's keeping mum on the details too but admits, "Yes, I gifted the Cartier watch to Gups. I saw how much he loved it so I'm glad."

Family man

The source close to Gupta adds, "Sanju is always known for springing surprises on close friends. Last week, he took his niece Saatchi and her friends for a surprise lunch at the Taj just like that.

Trishala (Sanju's daughter) and Saatchi are very close and the kids love it when their 'mamu' takes them out for lunch, movies and shopping.

Sanju's a child at heart and it was very cute to see him fussing over the kids, asking them what they want to eat and catching up with what's been happening in their lives. He does it often and they are thrilled!"
