Sanju: Mamu once more!

Sanjay Dutt is all set to become an uncle again. His younger sister, Congress MP Priya Dutt (married to entrepreneur Owen Roncon), is expecting her second baby. Priya is over three months pregnant and the proud mamu is over the moon!

Says Sanjay, "I'm looking forward to becoming an uncle again. Siddharth is nearly two years old and it's the right time for Priya to have a sibling for him. The entire family is very happy.
The one person we're missing is dad (Sunil Dutt), he would have been so happy."

Indulgent mamu

Sanju loves children and makes it a point to spend time with his nephew Siddharth and nieces Saachi and Siah, whenever he gets time. "There is an innocence about them which refreshes me. I feel charged every time I am with them.

I make it a point to spend as much time with them as possible. Before going for my shoots, I often talk to Siddharth and Saachi and Siah," he says.

Sanju sounds every inch the proud mamu when he talks about Siddharth. "He's a very intelligent boy. Every day he comes to my door and rings the bell. Once the door is opened, he goes straight to the kitchen and demands a banana! He doesn't go away, till I give it to him. There's this little patio connecting my flat to dad's flat.

This little guy comes to the hole, puts his hand through it and keeps calling out to me, 'mama, mama' till I come find him. He wants his chocolate and I have to give it to him."

But the indulgent uncle is careful not to spoil his nephew and nieces. "I am quite strict with them. I tell them I will give them whatever they want, but they have to behave properly."

Diaper dad

Sanju remembers the first time he became an uncle. "I was here with Namrata and Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) when Saachi was born. All of us went to have a look at her at the nursery after her birth.

She looked so small and sweet lying in her crib. I wasn't present during Siddharth's birth though. I was in South Africa shooting. But Owen called and informed me that it was a baby boy and I was overjoyed.

You know the most interesting thing, Dr Soonawala, Priya's gynaecologist, delivered Namrata, Priya, me, Saachi, Sia and Siddharth. Now, he will be delivering Priya's second baby too!"

And, of course, the most surprising thing is that unlike most dads and uncles, Sanju admits to knowing how to change nappies and feeding babies.

"I know because of Trishala. When she was a baby, I used to be most excited to sit up at night making her feeds and changing her diapers."

Apart from Priya's second baby, Sanju is also happy because his role in Shootout At Lokhandwala has been received well.

"People have been complimenting me on my role as ACP Shamsher Khan saying it's very real. I'm very happy."
