Sanjay penning his passion for ex-wife

Sanjay Gupta may have divorced his wife of seven years, Anuradha Lekhi, but three years on, he is still hopeful about a reconciliation.

Says Gupta, "I penned the lyrics of the song Unke nashe mein for Shootout At Lokhandwala, but honestly, I wrote it for Anu. I still love her; she's my muse.

The song Lamha lamha teri yaad aaye from Alibaug has been written for her. I'm dedicating Dus Kahaaniyan to her too."

It's obvious that he's still very much in love with Anuradha, and he says as much when we ask him if a reconciliation is on the cards. "I never gave up trying. I'm still hoping and praying.

Of course I have regrets, and if I could turn back time I wouldn't repeat certain mistakes. But Anu and I are in touch every day as we have our babies to take care of (their two dogs, Buddy and Yoda).

Anu comes over to take care of them and always stays for lunch or dinner."
Gupta says Anu is his biggest critic, which is why she was the first person to see his short film, Gubbare, from Dus Kahaaniyan.

"I edited the film and sent the first copy to her. When she saw it, she was in tears. She is an honest critic and doesn't like most of the things I do!"

'Sam's the past'

Gupta says he still hasn't got over his break-up with Anu, who is an artist and designer, and will soon be opening her own store in Versova. "There are some things in life that you can't walk away from.

Anu is a special woman and she will always be an integral part of my life. I would love to be a part of hers again someday, if she lets me," he says.

Gupta and Anu are currently at Pune. "We are at her parents' place for lunch and came back last night," says Gupta

Which brings us to rumours linking him back to former girlfriend Sameera Reddy. Apparently, the duo has rekindled their relationship. But Gupta is firm when he says, "That's not true. It's a thing of the past."

And so we'll leave it at that.
