Vidya
Balan
is
a
rare
combination
of
beauty
and
brains.
Although
a
relatively
new
entrant
to
Bollywood,
the
lady
with
aesthetic
eyes
and
a
gleaming
beam
has
already
conquered
the
hearts
of
millions.
So
much
so
that
even
the
mighty
Big
B
has
recently
confessed
that
he
has
a
soft
corner
in
his
heart
for
this
earthly
splendour.
Currently Vidya is all rambling over her latest release Salaam-E-Ishq and says that her portrayal in the film is one the best in her brief, but illustrious career, thus far. "Salaam-E-Ishq is basically a sonnet on love. The film weaves together stories of six different couples and six different kinds of relationships. It tries to show that all exertions in life notwithstanding, love remain the corner stone of everyone's life. Love is something which not only draws people closer, but also strengthens the bond between them," she gushes.
Vidya says that she signed on Salaam-E-Ishq simply on an impulse. She says, "The moment Nikhil Advani narrated the story to me; I made up my mind to do the film. It's not only an outstanding story, but also not superficial. It tells about the bare facts of life and how love plays a vital role in everyone's life. True love always wins and this aspect attracted me the most."
Vidya plays the role of a middle class urban girl Tehzeeb in this film and is paired opposite John Abraham who portrays her husband Ashu. Though they are struggling in life, both are madly in love with each other and make all sorts of compromises to overcome the obstacles that are very much prevalent in the middle class urban society. Their love and commitment towards each other make them triumph over all odds in life. "This movie is very realistic and I suggest everyone must watch it. If some one is in love, the movie will help him/her to strengthen their bonds, and if they are not in love yet, it would inspire them to fall in love soon," Vidya says laughingly.
Well, while Vidya suggests that everyone should watch Salaam-E-Ishq simply because the movie enhances the feelings of togetherness and love; she herself firmly believes that love is a magic word. "I sincerely believe that love is the most powerful and wonderful thing in life. It makes the world go round and round and sustains all of us. I pity those who don't believe in love. I consider them to be mere 'phantoms'. I just cannot think of live without love," the lady sermons.
Ah,
ha!
But
has
Vidya
herself
ever
been
in
love?
This
time,
the
actress
blushes
and
says,
"Yes,
I
have
been
in
love,
but
it
is
only
of
the
generic
kind.
I
am
not
talking
about
the
man-woman
relationship,
but
the
love
that
is
prevalent
in
all."
Has
she
had
a
crush
on
anyone?
"Yes,
I
did
have
crushes
and
they
are
many.
But
I
am
still
waiting
for
the
real
love
to
sweep
of
my
feet,"
Vidya
confesses.
About
her
marriage
plans,
Vidya
says,
"I
consider
marriage
to
be
an
institution
and
hence
of
the
opinion
that
one
should
not
jump
into
it.
I
am
waiting
for
the
right
man
in
my
life
and
when
he
comes
along
there
will
be
nothing
to
stop
me.
But,
for
the
moment
there
is
no
plan
of
marriage
as
I
am
concentrating
on
my
career
right
now."
Vidya is happy that after her stints with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Nikhil Advani, she is floored with offers and most of them are of a mixed variety. "This gives me an opportunity not only to choose and experiment, but also express my versatility," she says. Right now there's Eklavya which is ready for release followed by Hulla Bol directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. Besides, she has been signed up by Sajid Khan for his debut film Hey Baby. So there's a lot we can expect from Vidya in the days to come and hope that Sr Bachchan's fondness for her will continue.
