IIFA Awards 2009 without Bollywood big names

The much anticipated International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2009 has at last begun at Macau. Bollywood actors and artistes have thronged the city. Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of the event, has been running around tirelessly to make it a success. Abhishek and wife Aishwarya Bachchan have made their presence felt but Bollywood film lovers will surely miss some big names at the event.

Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan, who is an embodiment of energy, has skipped the event, as he is busy shooting for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. His fans will surely miss him badly. Salman Khan is another actor who has decided to skip the event. He is busy shooting for his TV show Dus Ka Dum. Moreover, he would not like to see his ex girlfriend Aishwarya Bachchan at the event.

As expected, Aamir Khan, the Perfectionist, is not attending the function though his film Ghajini has been nominated in the Best Movie category. He has been intentionally keeping away from film awards all these years.

Bollywood lovers will miss the spark and glamour of Kareena Kapoor. She was supposed to perform at the event but opted out later in order to spend time with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan. Other Bollywood big names who will miss the awards function include Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Preity Zinta, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and Priyanka Chopra..

In spite of the absence of these big names, IIFA Awards 2009 has taken off in a big way. The event will witness many actors like Aishwarya, Sonam Kapoor and Jackky Bhagnani perform besides recognising Bollywood actors and artistes for their efforts. Lara Dutta and Riteish Deshmukh will host the event.

Let's hope IIFA Awards 2009 become a success!
