Aparna Sharma is a trained commercial artiste and a classical dancer. She have travelled throughout the world with Broadway musical Bharti, performed at Berlin Theatre, done ads – so many things in life, and now she is making her career in cinema with a Punjabi film, Virsa.
How do you feel after doing so many things very early in life?
God has been kind to me and by his grace I have been able to do many things. I am deeply interested in whatever I do and like to experiment with whatever comes my way.
Since you are a classical dancer, did you ever think of pursuing it as a career?
I believe in 'Never say Never." Dance and Acting go hand in hand. I would love to pursue both with passion.
How did the idea come to join the cinema or you always wanted to step into filmdom?
Had no idea at all! It was at the time when I started doing ads, Vikram (Producer) spotted me and offered this role after watching my LG TV commercial which was on air at that time. I will always be thankful to him for introducing me to filmdom.
You are playing the role of Meet Grewal, a young girl aged 18. What is your character all about?
My character is of a confused second-generation immigrant in western world, who do not understand their core values. She want to do her own thing all the time.
Your character is of a confused second-generation immigrant in western world, who do not understand their core values and all that. Do you approve it or in your opinion, one should not forget one"s values whether being in a western society?
Good and Bad values exist everywhere. It's natural for one to be confused for sometime till one matures and is able to shift the good from the bad. We should be able to study people in their cultural context and like sponge absorb the good from both sides.
How was working with the likes of Gulshan Grover and Kanwaljit?
It was a huge learning experience with stalwarts like them.
And what about working with the Pakistani stars and Aarya Babar?
Wonderful! They are like us. As for Arya, he has always been there to guide me and it was a treat to work with him.
Would you like to continue your career in films in particular Hindi cinema?
Why not! I'm always open to good roles.
Who are your favourite stars in industry?
There are so many. to mention few Aamir Khan then of course, Madhuri Dixit has always been my all time favourite actor.
