"One should never look for love"- Deepika Padukone

How old are you today?
I am 24 years old.

What is the one thing you do every year on your birthday?
Since childhood, I have always gone to the Ganpati temple on my birthday. Today I will go to the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai.

What are you favourite flowers?
My favourites are the long-stemmed jarberas and red and white roses with tiny buds. Flowers are the most romantic and simple gift to give anyone.

Greeting cards or e-cards?
Greeting cards because as we collect them down the years they have more meaning...

What kind of cake will you cut?
Chocolate, chocolate and chocolate! I get angry when people serve strawberry or pineapple cakes for dessert.

Who is the most likely to wish you first on your birthday?
My parents.

Who is most likely to get your birth date wrong?
People who matter like my family and well-wishers know my birthdate like the back of their heads. It's casual acquaintances who forget.

Who buys you the best presents?
Ha! Ha! Ha! That really depends... I think I buy myself the best gifts because I know what I want.

What's the best gift your parents gave you?
When I turned 18 they gifted me a laptop which meant a lot at that time but generally speaking the love, support and encouragement that I have always got from my parents are the best gifts. I couldn't have been where I am without their support.

What are your most cherished gifts from last year?
The fact that Love Aaj Kal did really well at the BO and people appreciated my performance.

If not working, what are you most likely to do on your birthday?
At night I will go out for dinner with friends and have a small party.
I told my family not to join me this time as I fly back tomorrow to shoot for Ashutosh's Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se in Goa.

What did you do last year on your birthday?
I was in Mumbai but I can't remember... (Ranbir and she had celebrated it together by going out for dinner). I think I shot for half a day for the patchwork of Love Aaj Kal and then the other half I spent with my family. In the night, I left for the promotional campaign of Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay to USA.

Which is your most cherished birthday?
When I was a school kid and would take chocolates and sweets to my classmates and then come home and have a birthday party with balloons and streamers and all kinds of decorations.

Are you gifting yourself anything?
I will be but I haven't decided as yet what. Most probably it will be something like an electronic gadget as I love gizmos.

If you could choose which city would you like to be in, for your birthday?
I wish I could have gone to Tirupati.

Does it hurt more to be single on your birthday?
I don't know. I have never commented about this till now so better to let it be that.

Do birthday resolutions include finding a boyfriend this year?
One never looks for a boyfriend... one should never look for love... It just happens.

Any advice for your female fans on your birthday?
To live and enjoy every moment and find happiness in the small things. We get caught up in life and become hard, greedy and ambitious but we have to remember -- we have just one life to live. Enjoy it! I am a very positive person who always looks forward.

What will you wear tomorrow?
A salwar churidar when I go to the temple.

Do you buy a new outfit for your birthday every year?
Not necessarily an outfit -- I am more into electronic stuff.

Any favourite place for a birthday vacation?
I love the South of France. It's my most favorite holiday destination because of its scenic beauty and food.

A Hollywood hero would you love to go on a candlelight dinner with today?
I want to go for dinner with the guy from Grey's Anatomy -- Patrick Dempsey. I find him unconventionally hot!

A gift you'd really like today?
I think a camera. I have a CyberShot which I always carry in my purse as I love taking pictures but it's time I updated it.
