Trinidad And Tobago: The New Bollywood destination
Features
oi-Staff
Almost
three
years
have
passed
since
the
filming
of
the
scenes
of
the
Bollywood
film
Dulha
Mil
Gaya
on-location
in
Trinidad
and
Tobago.
The
film
was
theatrically
released
last
week
in
India,
and
notwithstanding
the
somewhat
mixed
reviews
about
its
script,
the
location,
Trinidad
and
Tobago,
was
hailed
as
having
“breathtaking
locales".
Dulha
Mil
Gaya
was
facilitated
by
the
Trinidad
and
Tobago
Film
Company
(TTFC)
and
it
was
the
first
time
that
the
Company
welcomed
Bollywood
producers
to
the
company
The
Trinidad
and
Tobago
Film
Company
Ltd.
(TTFC)
is
the
national
agency
that
positions
Trinidad
and
Tobago
as
the
premier
Carribean
film
location
to
international
producers.
The
TTFC
welcomed
the
producers
of
Dulha
Mil
Gaya,
one
of
twenty
film
project
that
chose
Trinidad
and
Tobago
as
a
location
in
2007.
All
projects
in
that
film
on
location
in
Trinidad
and
Tobago
can
expect
to
be
supported
by
TTFC
in
securing
permits,
gaining
access
to
locations,
facilitating
casting
calls
and
providing
information
on
crew,
equipment
and
services." Added
to
the
high
level
of
support
provided
to
in-coming
film
crews
by
TTFC,
the
Company
also
offers
a
Production
Expenditure
rebate
incentive
that
offers
upto
30%
cash
back
on
qualifying
on-location
expenditure
to
all
productions
filmed
on
location.
Trinidad
and
Tobago
is
an
eclectic,
cosmopolitan
country
offering
a
range
of
locations
that
are
relatively
close
in
proximity.
Another
unique
feature
of
Trinidad
and
Tobago
is
the
exotic
racial
mix
of
people
that
easily
allows
the
location
to
double
for
other
countries.
Added
to
this,
the
Government
of
Trinidad
and
Tobago
is
investing
heavily
in
the
country's
cultural
and
film
industries
which
have
resulted
on
a
cadre
of
trained
and
experienced
crew
able
to
step
in
and
provide
a
high
level
of
support
to
incoming
producers.
Carla
Foderingham,
CEO
of
Trinidad
and
Tobago
Film
Company
(TTFC)
noted
that
the
“TTFC
is
pleased
to
work
with
the
producers
of
Dulha
Mil
Gaya
to
facilitate
their
on
the
ground
requirements.
While
TTFC
reviewed
the
script
to
ensure
that
it
did
not
contain
gratuitous
violence
and/or
other
negative
content,
the
TTFC
does
not
engage
in
script
approvals"
Dulha
Mil
Gaya
is
expected
to
reach
local
movie
theaters
in
Trinidad
and
Tobago
this
month
and
the
TTFC
wishes
the
producers
all
the
best
with
their
film
and
thanks
the
team
for
choosing
Trinidad
and
Tobago
as
their
proffered
island
location
