The month of January each year is the time for film awards where the Best of the year gone by is honoured. This year too, there have already been 4 popular award functions which have taken place namely Star Screen Awards, Apsara Film & Television Producers' Guild Awards, Zee Cine Awards and last but not the least the oldest of them all the Filmfare Awards.

Each year whenever the results are announced, the verdict is certainly a mixed bag. While some winners genuinely deserve the trophy, others manage to get the top honour purely on the basis of their clout and connections. No wonder, the debate of whether film awards are fair and genuine is a never-ending one.

In keeping with this, we take a look at winners across 4 categories (Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress) in the 4 awards ceremonies held this year and want you to let us know what you think of the results. Who is the deserving winner or who should have been the deserving winner in each category?

If one looks at the Best Film category, Udaan was the winner at the Star Screen Awards while Arbaaz Khan Productions' Dabangg bagged the trophy at the other 3 awards namely Apsara Film & Television Producers' Guild Awards, Zee Cine Awards & the Filmfare Awards.

In the Best Director category, debutante director Vikramaditya Motwane bagged the award for Udaan at the Star Screen Awards while in all the other 3 award functions namely Apsara Film & Television Producers' Guild Awards, Zee Cine Awards & the Filmfare Awards, it was Karan Johar who walked away with the trophy for My Name Is Khan.

The Best Actor category is always one which faces serious competition. This year too it was no different. While Salman Khan won the Best Actor award for his feisty portrayal of Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg at Star Screen Awards and Apsara Film & Television Producers' Guild Awards, it was Shahrukh Khan who won the Best Actor award at the Zee Cine Awards and Filmfare Awards for his performance as Rizwan Khan in My Name Is Khan.

Last but not the least, in the Best Actress category this year Vidya Balan was the winner at the Star Screen Awards and the Zee Cine Awards. At the Apsara Film & Television Producers' Guild Awards, it was a tie between Vidya Balan (for Ishqiya) & Anushka Sharma (for Band Baaja Baaraat) and both ended up walking away with the top honour. As for Filmfare, it was a surprise of sorts as Kajol was awarded the Best Actress award for her act in My Name Is Khan.

Now that you have an overview of the winners in the Top 4 categories in the 4 award functions held this year, what do you think about the results? Do let us know by posting your feedback in the comments section below:
