Saif Ali Khan becomes the 10th Nawab of Pataudi

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was appointed as the tenth Nawab of Pataudi at a ceremony that took place today at his ancestral palace in Pataudi, Haryana. Saif Ali Khan was made the Nawab at a 'pagdi' ceremony this morning at the Ibrahim Palace where heads of villages tied a white turban around his head. The ceremony was attended by mother Sharmila Tagore, sisters Saba and Soha.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Saif took over the title from his father, former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who passed away on September 22 this year.

Saif's sister Saba Ali Khan, patron of the Auqaf-e-Shahi or the body managing the religious and charitable endowments of the erstwhile princely state, had said recently that Saif would be sworn in as the Nawab of Pataudi after completion of the forty days mourning period.
