Salman Khan celebrates his 46th birthday

Salman Khan will be celebrating his 46th birthday today – December 27, 2011. As Salman steps into his 46th year, one cannot help but marvel at this 'bad boy' who turned into Indian Robin Hood (Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg).

As Salman Khan turns 46 today, he has every reason to celebrate. His 45th year was full of activity. Both his films Ready and Bodyguard, that were released this year were among the top five grossers of all time. Salman's fan following has increased by thousands.

Salman, who was earlier among the least liked heroes among the media, is today one of the most revered actors in Bollywood. He is also one of the most bankable stars of our times.

Throughout his acting career, Salman has been in the news more for his personal life than his professional life. His sizzling on screen and off-screen chemistry with Aishwarya Rai and his bitter spat with friend turned foe Shahrukh Khan kept making headlines. However, all that has changed today.

Salman is recognised for what he is as an actor and as a human being – Salman Khan is actively involved in many charitable causes, the main being 'Being Human,' a charitable organisation set up by him.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, "Once considered the joker in the pack, Salman became the King of Aces when Dabangg (2010) found itself a place in the highest grossers of that year. He followed this with two blockbusters - Ready and Bodyguard this year. Bodyguard's first day's collection of 22 crore is unheard of in the history of Hindi cinema."

Well, not everything was hunky-dory for Salman Khan as he had to undergo surgery this year for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, a rare nerve disorder.
