Recent
blockbusters
Bodyguard,
Dabangg,
Wanted
and
Singham
has
revived
the
audiences
love
for
action
cinema
in
an
era
where
soft
romantic
films
are
usually
lapped
up
by
the
Bollywood
movie-goers.
While
the
actors
often
walk
away
with
all
the
applause
for
an
action
sequence
in
a
film,
the
stuntmen
who
actually
choreograph
stunts
for
the
stars,
are
still
the
unsung
heroes
of
the
film
industry.
Action
sequences
are
one
of
the
main
ingredients
in
a
typical
Bollywood
film,
be
it
action,
thriller,
comedy
or
romance.
Amitabh
Bachchan,
Salman
Khan,
Sanjay
Dutt,
Sunny
Deol
and
Akshay
Kumar,
whose
action
sequences
are
loved
by
the
Indian
audiences
owe
a
lot
to
the
stuntsman
who
in
reality
do
the
stunts
for
the
actors.
Even
Dhoom
2,
which
was
high
on
the
'oomph'
factor
owes
its
success
partially
to
the
stuntmen
who
performed
some
dare
devilry
acts
to
pull
off
the
show
in
a
grand
manner.
These
people
who
bring
the
action
alive
on
the
celluloid,
remain
mainly
behind
the
curtains.
Speaking
to
PTI
regarding
the
success
of
action
oriented
films
in
the
recent
years,
ace
action
director
Sham
Kaushal,
who
won
international
acclaim
for
Slumdog
Millionaire
said,
“These
films
have
changed
the
scenario
of
action,
seems
there
is
a
new
trend.
It
is
a
positive
phase
for
action
movies
as
more
films
of
this
genre
are
made."
However,
the
director
is
of
the
opinion
that
it
is
not
only
action
that
works
in
the
overall
success
of
a
film,
but
a
balance
of
emotions,
drama
and
comedy
is
also
required.
