Deepika Padukone in Cocktail: A slap on the faces of her critics and detractors!

For all those who believed so far that Deepika Padukone is a complete 'disaster' when it comes to her acting skills, Cocktail is the answer. Deepika, who had time and again faced the heat of the critics for her poor acting, is finally back with a bang. No wonder, Deepika does a marvellous job as Veronica in Cocktail. In short, her mind boggling performance in Cocktail is a direct slap on the faces of her critics and the detractors.

What people thought of Deepika's acting in the past:

Deepika had done quite a number of movies in her 5-year-long Bollywood career. But somehow, the leggy lass failed to live up to our high expectations due to her disastrous acting skills. Though Deepika's debut film Om Shanti Om, opposite to Shahrukh Khan, fetched her acclaims and recognition, her later performances weren't too convincing. The actress' role in Bachna Ae Haseena, was a sure disappointment to the critics. According to Taran Adarsh, "Deepika is a sore point. Her role isn't convincing and that's the reason why this performance doesn't work. The only consolation is, she looks gorgeous."

Reviewing her performance in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal, NDTV's Anupama Chopra wrote, "Deepika looks fabulous, but she isn't a strong enough actor to breathe life into the character." Even Nikhat Kazmi of The Times Of India commented on Deepika in Chandni Chowk To China, stating, "Deepika looks lost and forlorn for most of the film."

Now, lets move on to our dear viewers. Majority of our viewers felt that Deepika cannot act at all. Though many feel that Deepika has gorgeous looks, she definitely delivers "very bad acting". In fact, many felt that Deepika should quit acting and get back to her modelling career. Deepika was even named as the worst actress at the Fourth Annual Golden Kela Awards.

Deepika Padukone is a stunner in Cocktail, which proves that the lady "has come of age as an actor". Dippy as Veronica in the film, is seen in a full hip and happening mood throughout. The actress has made heads turn, not only with her svelte hot bod, sexy outfits, but we are also overwhelmed to watch out Dippy's improved acting skills.

Zee News states, "Deepika hits the bulls eye with her portrayal of Veronica. Deepika manages to highlight the intricacies of the psyche of a woman who has had a troubled childhood, which propelled her to seek refuge in alcohol and hard core partying."

Gaurav Malani from TOI states, "Deepika Padukone comes with the most impressive performance and is exceptionally good in the drunken scene where the happy-go-lucky Veronica shows her vulnerable side. And while she remains absolutely natural in her act, she looks stunningly sexy too."

Anupama Chopra from Hindustan Times states, "The big surprise in Cocktail is Deepika, who moves beyond her usual statuesque mannequin pose and gets into the skin of the emotionally raw and needy poor little rich girl. This is easily her best performance to date."

But, that's not the end of it as the actress has also received great response from the audience as well. Most of the viewers found Deepika, the best in the film. In fact, many feel that Dippy's outstanding performance in Cocktail, might just fetch her the best actress award of the year.
