Are Indians willing to accept porn star Sunny Leone and her debut film Jism 2?

In a nation like India, where people still shy away from the word 'sex' and talk about their 'sanskar' and 'sanskriti', it wouldn't be an easy job for Sunny Leone (porno star) to make a special place in the hearts of the Indians. Ms Leone is currently very excited about her upcoming Bollywood debut Jism 2, that is all set to release tomorrow. But, will the citizens of our nation accept her as an Indian actress with heart full of love and respect?

Many believe that Sunny Leone's porn star status has given her the way for a big Bollywood break. When the news broke out that a porn star will be entering the Hindi film industry, the Bhatts had to face extreme criticisms from the entire nation. Sunny Leone too was slammed by people from every nook and corner of the nation.

Here is the list of a few protests that were held against Sunny Leone:

1) IAAF had objected to the introduction of porn star Sunny Leone in the reality show Bigg Boss 5 on Colors. Reports revealed that an interest in pornography was suddenly increased after Sunny Leone came to India. Since people were unaware of who she was, they got interested. Although her identity in the show was not revealed publicly, people searched her on net and got to know. Reports also said that teenagers were affected the most. Sunny Leone had triggered an inadvertent interest in an industry considered taboo in the Indian culture. Not just teenagers, even families too had faced troubles.

2) Protest against Sunny Leone in Amritsar - Activists of Bhagwan Valmiki Shakti Sena shouted slogans against porn star Sunny Leone and burned the poster of Jism 2 in Amritsar. The protesters were against the vulgarity shown in the film.

2) A PIL has been slammed against Sunny Leone in the Allahabad High Court. The PIL was filed by Rakesh Nayayik, a resident of Varanasi. It seeks a stay on the release of the film, and has challenged the provisions of the law which define the powers of the Censor Board in India.
