Bollywood celebrities arrive at Ravi Chopra's funeral. From Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor to Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra, all the Bollywood celebs have headed to the funeral, that started early in the morning today.
Veteran film and TV director Ravi Chopra, best known for his Amitabh Bachchan starrer family drama Baghbaan and TV series Mahabharat, died yesterday at the age of 68 following a lung ailment.
Chopra, admitted to the Breach Candy hospital here as he was not keeping well for some time, passed away in the afternoon, family sources said.
He is survived by his wife and three children. Ravi came from an illustrious family of filmmakers like B R Chopra (his father) and Yash Chopra (uncle). Though his journey in cinema was not that smooth as that of his seniors, he still helmed movies like Zameer, The Burning Train, Mazdoor, Dahleez and Baabul.
His biggest success came from the TV adaptation of Mahabharat, which continues to have a following even today. The series was directed by him and produced by his father. He also produced Bhoothnath and Bhoothnath Returns with Bachchan playing the friendly ghost in both the movies.
Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the filmmaker. "Rip Ravi Chopra! Shall always remember your ever smiling face," wrote Divya Dutta.
Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted: "Saddened to hear about demise of Ravi Chopra-ji. Apart from being a fine filmmaker, he was also a very nice human being. Rest in Peace, Sir."
Actor Tusshar Kapoor wrote, "RIP Mr Ravi Chopra, deep condolences for the entire family, may his soul rest in peace!"
Farah Khan tweeted, "One of the nicest, kindest n big hearted soul in the film industry passed away today..Ravi Chopra.. May you rest in peace."
Kailash Kher tweetd, "One of the Kindest man n Milestone of Films n TV, Director Ravi Chopra Passed Away. His movies sensible work of Art. RIP #AwayFromAllPain."
