They are rich and super famous. Most of these Bollywood celebrities never dreamt of becoming such big superstars. They started from a scratch and are now Richie Rich! There are many Bollywood celebrities who were not born with a silver spoon.
They have worked hard and proved that hard work and true passion can help transform from rag to Richie Rich! Some Bollywood actors started from the bottom and finally reached the pinnacle of success with their acting talent and good heart.
For example, Shahrukh Khan who is considered the King of Bollywood and Romance worked his way long to reach this position and become a name on his own. He left for Mumbai with a meager 1500 rupees and started from scratch to achieve the dream of becoming an actor.
Apart from Shahrukh Khan, Big B Amitabh Bachchan who has a mammoth figure in Bollywood also started from the base level. The boy from Allahabad spent nights sleeping on the benches of Marine Drive as he was homeless in the city then. However, now Big B is a royalty in himself and becoming a part of Bachchan family is like a dream come true.
Some other superstars of Bollywood like Mithun Chakraborty have accepted that they have worked really hard and had barely some money to survive. However, they worked hard and finally became rich and famous. Calcutta boy Mithun went on record to say that he shared room when he came to Mumbai, and used to sleep on floor as well. Sometimes he slept hungry as well. But the actor worked hard and became the second highest paid actor after Big B in 1982-3.

Shahrukh Khan
If recent reports are to be believed then Shahrukh Khan has been ranked the 2nd richest actor in the world. Shah Rukh Khan has emerged as the second richest actor in both Hollywood and Bollywood combined list. Shahrukh has beaten Hollywood giants like Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood or Adam Sandler. Wealth-X's Hollywood and Bollywood Rich List showed SRK as estimated to be worth $600 million. He is the only Bollywood actor to make it to the list. However, SRK was a simple guy from a middle-class family who came to Mumbai to become an actor with Rs. 1500 in pocket.
Amitabh Bachchan
He is known as the Shahenshah of Bollywood. The tall actor is from Allahabad and used to even sleep on the benches of Marine Drive in Mumbai during his struggling years. He later became a hit and one of the most highest paid and earning actors of Bollywood for a couple of decades.
Rajinikanth
Another superstar started from a scratch level. He was not the godfather as he is preached now in South India. Rajini who has now become a Thalaivar belonged to a poor family who worked as a coolie and then bus conductor for a living. After his debut film, Apoorva Raagangal released, success came running behind the superstar and the rest is all history.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay who is known as the Khiladi of Bollywood was once a dishwasher and chef. He even worked as a waiter in Bangkok. He used to sleep on the kitchen floor while working as a chef. Without any back support, Akshay worked really hard and is now one of the highest paid Bollywood actors!
Mithun Chakraborty
This outsider with no godfather to back him worked really hard and his struggle stories are well known to people. His initial years of struggle in Mumbai are part of folklore now. Apart from being rejected for his dusky Bengali complexion as well as accent, Mithun struggled and finally made it big in the industry. Even after winning National Award for his debut film, Mrigya, Mithun struggled and finally became a hit superstar.

The King of Comedy Mehmood started as a child actor. Mehbood used to work as a driver, poultry seller and also taught actress Meena Kumari how to play table tennis! After getting married and becoming a father, Mehmood took acting seriously and became the next generation of Johnny Walker.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui
One of the most talented and versatile actors of Bollywood in the recent time used to work as a watchman before entering the dream industry. Nawazuddin also worked as a chemist before developing interest in theater and film industry. Before entering Bollywood, the dark skinned actor enrolled in The National School of Drama. He was seen playing small roles in Sarfarosh and Munnabhai MBBS before making his Bollywood debut with Gangs of Wasseypur.
