Bollywood Celebs React On Deepika Padukone's Cleavage Controversy
On Sunday, Deepika Padukone took a stand against the cheap journalism adopted by a leading newspaper. She took to Twitter and asked, "YES!I am a Woman.I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??"
The leading tabloid posted a link on its twitter handle, titled "OMG: Deepika Padukone's Cleavage Show" , the pictures were all shot from top-angle in an unaesthetic manner which caused an outrage towards the actress's modesty. Not the kind to take it quietly, Deepika shook the twitteraties and the media world with her stand against such sleaze news stories.
One of India's well known journalist too supported Deepika's stand and tweeted, "Good for you @deepikapadukone - nothing embarrasses misogynists more than some plainspeak!" With so many people standing by the actress's side and providing her support in the matter, one would expect this leading tabloid to apologize, but what they did shocked us more than the sleazy article they first carried on the actress.
The news organisation tweeted: "It's a compliment! You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew!" After this post, the organisation was scrutinized further for their baseless reply and actress Amrita Puri even retorted saying, "@TOIEntertain your response to @deepikapadukone was disgusting and so goddamn stupid! I'm so glad I discontinued my subscription a year ago."
Director Sandiip Sikcand too shamed the tabloid tweeting, "SHAME ON TOI !! Someone tell these so called reporters that in a top angle shot, their mothers & sisters would look the same!"
The entire Bollywood film fraternity has stood up for the actress and shamed people who adopt cheap tactics in the name of journalism. People who are supporting the actress even started a Twitter trend with #IStandWithDeepikaPadukone.
