Finding Fanny special screening was conducted at Lightbox in Mumbai where the entire cast and crew were present cheering for their film. Director Homi Adjania arrived first, after which stars Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia followed suit.
Finding Fanny, which is said to be released in English and Hindi was facing some censorship trouble in getting a U/A certification. CBFC official Deepak who is supposedly the Personal Assistant to Chairperson Leela Samson has asked the film director Homi Adajania to cut down the word 'virgin' from Deepika Padukone's dialogue.
According to a scene in Finding Fanny, Deepika Tandel says 'I am a virgin' to Arjun Kapoor and Deepak believes that the word needs to be chopped off. Moreover, Deepak also revealed that he has asked Homi to tone down the scene where Dimple Kapadia's skirt gets torn. With so many issues in censor certification, one expected the film screening to happen later but to our surprise the team conducted it last night in Mumbai where we saw stars like Hrithik Roshan and Karan Johar cheering loudly for the lead actors of the movie, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor.
Another surprise of the fans is that Homi Adajania is releasing a novel on the film. In fact, the film has been inspired from this novel which was kept under wraps. According to Homi, Kersi Kambatta, the co-writer on the film, developed this novel from Homi's short story Finding Fanny. They later based the screenplay of the film on the novel but he wouldn't let it release.
The movies is based on five Goans who set off on a road trip in search of an old postman's childhood love, Stefanie "Fanny" Fernandes. Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of this movie, in the mean time watch exclusive special screening pictures of Finding Fanny.
Karan Johar who is close to the cast and director of the movie was there to show his support.
The lead actors of the film too attended the special screening of Finding Fanny.
Dimple says, "It didn't matter to me whether it's an English film as long as I was working with Homi Adajania."
Homi's movie Finding Fanny has also been made into a novel.
Finding Fanny is a quirky drama starring Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and is produced by Maddock Films in association with Fox Star Studios.
According to the Homi, Kersi Kambatta, the co-writer on the film, developed this novel from Homi's short story Finding Fanny.
Finding Fanny revolves around five rather dysfunctional characters that live in the quaint sleepy village of Pocolim, nestled deep in the interiors of Goa, India.
According to a scene in Finding Fanny, Deepika Padukone says 'I am a virgin' to Arjun Kapoor and censor board believes that the word needs to be chopped off.
A young virgin widow (Deepika Padukone), a bitter mechanic (Arjun Kapoor), a belligerent artist (Pankaj Kapur) and an obnoxious self-appointed "Lady" of Pocolim (Dimple Kapadia) join Ferdie as they experience various hilarious and moving events that change their lives forever.
The film premiered in India on September 1, 2014 and is scheduled for release worldwide on September 12, 2014.
