B'Day Spl: Top 10 AR Rahman Hit Songs In Bollywood

AR Rahman is celebrating his 48th birthday today and what better way to rejoice than listening to his soulful songs. It won't be wrong in saying that he is one of the best music composers in India and today we'll be listing his top 10 Bollywood hit songs.

He was born as A. S. Dileep Kumar on 6 January, 1967. Among the many awards that he has been felicitated with, the most prestigious ones are two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South.

He is truly one of the best and probably the only Indian music composer who is so famous in Hollywood and has evens composed many a songs for Hollywood films.

He is called as "The Mozart of Madras", and his Tamil fans call him Isai Puyal which means 'Musical Storm'. He is one of the highest-paid music composers in the film industry and has become a notable humanitarian and philanthropist, donating and raising money for a number of charities.

His career began in Tamil film industry but his Hindi compositions earned him worldwide recognition. His composition for the film Roja won him many awards, from a National Film Award for Best Music Direction, Filmfare Award for Best Music Director - Tamil, Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director and was even listed in TIME's "10 Best Soundtracks" of all time in 2005.

The film came in Hindi as well and so the same songs came out in Hindi too and the one which stole the hearts of all was Yeh Haseen Vaadiyan. His latest composition was for the Lingaa, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions.

Rehna Tu
