The Filmfare awards is one of the oldest film events in India. These awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards. They were initially referred to as the Clare Awards or The Claresafter Clare Mendonca.

Filmfare awards are still the most reputed awards of the country.

In the year 1993 Shahrukh Khan won his first best debut Filmfare award for his film Deewana. In the same year Shahrukh won the best actor award for his grey role in Baazigar.

Shahrukh Khan started his career with appearances in several television series in the late 1980s. His serial Fauji was one of the most successful shows of that time. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana.
