Did You Know? These 11 Bollywood Movies Were Based On The Real life Incidents!

Today, Bollywood movies are known for its high-voltage entertainment quotient. Having said this, serious, thought-provoking real-life-subject movies too, have been an evergreen trend in this film industry and is also well-taken by the movie buffs.

About a national leader, sports personality, an iconic event in the Indian history, a current real life character, a murder mystery... the list may never end for the directors of Bollywood to get inspiration.

Whatever critical acclaim such movies receive, one should applaud the director's effort on these projects. Right from costuming to building huge sets to scripting and screening, the crew work their hearts out to bring alive the close-to-reality scenarios, on screen.

Apart from all the background work that goes into making such movies, actors too have to work equally hard in understanding the seriousness of the role they are playing and also to work their bodies out to get the desired look.Mary Kom, Bhaag Milka Bhaag are some examples to show, to what extent our actors have gone, to portray real-life characters.

There are many movies that are based on true stories till date. Bandit Queen, Gangs of Wasseypur, Gulab Gang, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shootout at Wadala, Asoka, Jodha Akbar, Bajirao Mastani and very recent release Mohenjo Daro were all critically acclaimed and equally appreciated by the audiences.

Airlift and in the recent release Rustom, Akshay Kumar playing the lead in these two semi-fictional movies created waves for its high quotient of depicting real-life heroism.

Continuing the trend, Dangal, the story of a wrestler, Mahavir Singh Phogat, and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, the story of the famous captain of the Indian cricket team, already tops the list of much awaited movies of the year.

Loosely based on the sensitive plot surrounding the murder of Mahatma Gandhi at the hands of Nathuram Godse, this Kamal Hassan starrer had actually created a lot of controversies when it was released, despite having a semi-fictional plot.

Shyam Benegal's Zubeidaa was a film on the life and times of a mistress of late Maharaja of Jodhpur, Hanwant Singh. Karisma Kapoor, Rekha and Manoj Bajpayee's performance was clean and justified.

Special 26 was centred around the 1987 Opera House robbery, during which a group of thieves pretending to CBI officials, executed an income tax raid on a jeweller in Mumbai. The case remains unsolved till now. The film had Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher in prominent roles.
