"I'm told I brought a change in the depiction of the female protagonist. Earlier, there were just shades of white and black, the heroine and the vamp. Perhaps, I brought in strokes of grey," the actress recalled in a Filmfare interview.
In yet another interview, he said, "Before us there were either the saintly heroines or the nasty vamps. Parveen Babi and I brought in shades of grey."
A Huge Sensation
"I worked with directors who were on top of their game. Life passed in the blink of an eye. I've many memories to reclaim. Those days you just went home from the studio. You weren't aware of the ripples you created outside."
Bold & Bindass
The actress was abashed about being tagged a sex symbol back then and said, "It was what sold. My body. All of them (the directors) did it to me, every single one of them. There was nothing I could do about it. It was part of the game. I don't blame them. I don't blame myself. It was business."
Satyam Shivam Sundaram- A Turning Point
"I was acting with Rajji (Kapoor) in Vakil Babu those days. He was planning to make Satyam Shivam Sundaram (SSS, 1978) then. He'd keep talking passionately about his protagonist Rupa. It inspired me.
I wanted to be directed by him. So one day I wore a ghagra-choli, plaited my hair, adorned it with gajras, stuck tissue paper on my face to give it a scarred effect and stopped by at RK cottage. I sent across a message to Rajji saying that ‘Rupa' had come to meet him. He was surprised that an established actor had taken such efforts. He phoned Krishnaji (Kapoor) and asked her to come immediately. She brought a gold guinea and gave it to me as the signing amount for SSS. I was over the moon."
Zeenat's Personal Life
While Zeenat Aman's professional life was going great guns, her personal life was otherwise. She reportedly was in a relationship with the much-married Sanjay Khan.Their volatile affair reportedly ended with allegations of abuse.
Soon, Zeenat married Mazhar Khan but their marriage too hit rough weather.
'I Have Made Some Mistakes In The Journey Of Life'
"We have our vulnerabilities, insecurities; we actors are highly emotional people. I have made some mistakes in the journey of life. Nobody has a perfect life. Anyone who says so is lying. There's action and reaction." So what would be the hard lessons that came her way? "Never trust easily. Look before you leap whether it's a project or a relationship. Weigh the pros and cons. Let the mind participate. Don't listen to your heart always," Zeenat was quoted as saying in a Filmfare interview.
