At the function, Ashutosh Gowariker blasted Sajid Khan, who was hosting the show, for making fun of the Hindi film industry. When Ashutosh came on stage to collect the award for his film, the period-drama Jodha Akbar, he lashed out at Sajid and said, '"I don't like only one thing that... the film industry is made fun of at such an award night. And I feel it ridicules the award itself. On one side, I am very happy that I received an award. But I don't think the demeanour of the award night has been at a good standard. (sic)"
He Added
"Personal remarks can be made even by me. Fun can be made even by me." To which Sajid replied, "You should go ahead, Ashu." Gowariker replied, "No, Sajid. There is a difference."
When Ashutosh Told Sajid To Shut Up
When Sajid told him that the jokes were given by the organisers, the director asked him to shut up. A furious Sajid replied back by saying, "kisika baap bhi mujhe shut up nahi bol sakta!"
Ashutosh Should Have Understood
When Mid-Day contacted Sajid Khan, he revealed, "Ashutosh Gowariker is a very dear and old friend of mine and he of all people should understand that Sajid Khan is an entertainer and it is his job to entertain audiences.''
