The stunner made a splashing debut at the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival's 2019 red carpet to promote her then-short film Lines, which was screened on the French Riviera. Hina stunned her fans with some stunning looks as she held her head high and walked the red carpet with pride.
Although the actress walked the prestigious Cannes red carpet with sheer elegance, she was the only actor who represented the Indian television industry, as it is usually a place reserved for only big-shot movie stars.
Instead of a word of encouragement for the actress, Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai mocked her on social media and said, "Cannes has suddenly become Chandivali Studios, kya?" (Has Cannes suddenly turned into Chandivali Studios?)

The Filmfare editor's mocking was met with severe outrage from the TV fraternity and fans, but Hina Khan's confidence remained unshakable. A huge controversy followed after this, and Jitesh Pillai later had to apologise for his mean comments.
Speaking to Elle India about her debut and how she dealt with the trolls and if they had upset her. Hina said that it was upsetting in the beginning, but she was overwhelmed by the love and support she received from her fans and colleagues.
She added, "I am just so thankful to each one of them. I have moved on and I don't believe in playing the victim. Whatever happened should not have happened, but nonetheless I have a lot more to talk about-my projects and the hard work that I have put in. I have a lot of regard for that person and I still respect him, so no hard feelings."
