AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN FIRST ATTENDED THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL IN 2002
Many aren't aware that Asihwarya Rai Bachchan first walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet with her 2002 movie Devdas co-star Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Devdas was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and it gained a lot of attention for being one of the most expensive films made at that time.
Aishwarya's entry at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival was nothing short of a fairytale. She made heads turn as she arrived in a blue chariot, dressed in a traditional gold saree designed by Neeta Lulla and accessorising it with matching gold jhumkas and a necklace.
Shah Rukh Khan was her co-star in 'Devdas' and helped her down from the chariot. Her look is still counted among the best so far. Her traditional look and graceful persona were much appreciated at the festival, making her a global icon.
During another appearance, Aishwarya opted for a sky blue sleeveless salwar suit with resham work all over it and kept her makeup minimal. She ditched heavy accessories, added subtle makeup and winged eyeliner, and left her hair open.
Earlier, Asihwarya talked about her Cannes debut and told Vogue, "We attended the festival not just as artists but as proud representatives of Indian cinema, showcasing a film that meant so much to us. The kind of reception we got for the movie was truly overwhelming and I will cherish it all my life."
