on
adultery.
When
Dev

being
called
pagal
for
making
Guide
Directed

The
film
is

of
the
most
celebrated
films
in
the
history
of
Bollywood

turning
point
in

Anand's
career.
Veteran

Waheeda
Rehman
was
the
female
lead
in
the
film.
In
an
old
interview
with
IndiaTV,
Dev
Anand
opened
up
about
making
Guide
and
revealed
how
people
called
him
mad
for
doing

He
had
said
in
Hindi,
"Jab
humne
Guide
banayi,
Guide
adultery
pe
thi.
Logon
ne
kaha
ye
pagal
ho
gaya
hai.
Dev
apne
aap
ko
barbaad
kar
raha
hai,
iski
stardom
khatam
ho
jayegi,
lekin
mere
sath
mere
bhai
sahab
the,
Goldie
sahab
the."
"Humein
laga
bohot
achcha
angle
hair;
mazza
aaya
to
aaya,
nai
aaya
to
na
sahi.
Log

ageging
In

he
had

aging,
and
his

He

said,
"Jab
duniya
mujhse
puchti
hai
ki
Dev
sahab,
umr
kitni
ho
gayi?
Toh
main
unse
kehta
hoon
'aap
jitni
samajh
le.'
Janamdin
jab
aata
hai
to
ehsaas
hone
lagta
hai
maine
kya
kuch
kiya
ab
tak,
aur
phir
mere
ird-gird
jo
jahan
hai,
use
salam
bhi
karta
hoon.
Saari
mind
ki
baat
hai,
saari
andar
ke
enlightenment
ki
baat
hai.
Agar
aapke
kaam
me
masti
bhi
aur
mazzaa
bhi
hai
jo
aap
apne
kaam
se
draw
karte
ho,
toh
phir
umr
ka
ehsaas
nahi
hota.
Main
jo
tha
so
tha,
jo
hoon
so
hoon."
