The Vishal Bhardwaj film starrer Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor in the lead alongside actors Saif Ali Khan and Richard McCabe. Despite their on-screen chemistry generating considerable buzz, it was clear from their media interviews that Shahid and Kangana did not share a good equation.

During an interview with DNA, Kangana Ranaut talked about her intimate scenes with Shahid and called it a tragedy. She said, "I don't like intimate scenes in a film. They are the most difficult to shoot. You have a formal equation with someone and suddenly you are into each other's mouth. That big moustache of Shahid is horrible. It was such a ... Not a turn-off but a tragedy of different level! When I asked him about it, he said he applies wax and has a running nose! Mera naak isme bah ke jaata hai."

She also opened up on sharing a cottage with Shahid during a remote location shoot and called it a nightmare. The Queen actress revealed, "We were shooting in a remote location where a little makeshift cottage was erected. Shahid and I were sharing the cottages with our respective teams. Every morning, I would wake up to this mad hip- hop music. And he would exercise listening to crazy trance and techno songs blasting from the speakers. I was fed up and wanted to shift out. Sharing the cottage with Shahid was a nightmare."

Shahid Kapoor reacted to Kangana's statements and said that he was surprised. During an interview with Filmfare, he said, "Kangana has a thing for one-liners. I'm not one of those. I'd rather focus on the movie. I like positivity. We shared a professional equation. So, I was also surprised by the comments. I also read some retractions she made later that she didn't mean it in a bad way."
