‘I State Very Clearly That…’: When Katrina Kaif Talked About Her Tumultuous Relationship With Bipasha Basu

Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu are the two most glamorous actresses in Bollywood. While both actresses are known for their versatile acting chops, it is also their infamous rivalry that often grabs attention.

The catfight reached its peak during the shooting of Abbas Mastan's film, Race, where the two leading ladies reportedly refrained from talking to each other.

During a candid episode of Karan Johar's talk show, Koffee With Karan, in 2008, Katrina Kaif was confronted with questions about her alleged tiff with Bipasha Basu. Karan, never one to shy away from juicy details, remarked on the palpable tension, stating, "Bipasha and you have steamy stuff anyways happening. You don't look at each other or talk to each other."

In response, Katrina urged Karan to approach Bipasha for her side of the story but acknowledged her co-star's dedication to the industry. She said, "That is something, that honestly, you will have to ask her. I did try and clarify my views and my standpoint on the whole issue surrounding nothing. At the end of the day, I'm here to work, and I definitely know so is she. She is a person who's working very hard in the industry, and I think that's definitely where she wants to be. And today, I state very clearly that I think you're a wonderful person. I genuinely, actually do."

During the chat, Katrina also hinted at a possible third-party involvement that may have fueled the tension between them. "I think she's amusing, and she's quite funny, and she's opinionated. I like that. And somewhere along the line, I think maybe a third party has just come in between and caused this."

When Bipasha Basu Addressed The Rivalry With Katrina Kaif

In a separate interview on Star Trek with Anna M.M. Vetticad, Bipasha Basu acknowledged the lack of communication between her and Katrina Kaif. While she refused to share the specific reason behind their strained relationship, she revealed that the tension had been created for a specific reason that she wouldn't disclose.

She said, "Katrina and I don't talk. So there is nothing really earth-shattering about it. The tension between us has been created for a particular reason. I know the reason and I know why it's been done and I'll never share that with anybody. It could be because of our boyfriends (John Abraham and Salman Khan) but that never affected our work. We didn't speak during Race but that never stopped shooting."
