When Pamela Chopra Said ‘Chopra Women Don't..' On Rani Mukerji's Decision To Work After Marriage
Pamela Chopra death: Late legendary filmmaker and producer Yash Chopra's singer-screenwriter Pamela Chopra passed away this morning at the age of 74. Her funeral was held at 11 am today in Mumbai. The entire film fraternity is mourning her demise, while several celebrities, including Ajay Devgn, Anushka Sharma, and Hrithik Roshan, have expressed their condolences.
As per a report by PTI, Pamela had been being treated for pneumonia at the Lilavati Hospital for the past few days. Sharing the news with fans, YRF's official Twitter handle said in a statement, "With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 AM today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection."

For the unversed, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji is married to Pamela's elder son, Aditya Chopra. Rani shared a very close bond with Pamela and was like a mother figure to the actress.
Pamela has been a supportive mother-in-law to Rani Mukerji. Their relationship dates back to the times as Rani had worked with Yash Chopra in several movies. In an old interview with Rediff, Pamela Chopra was asked about Rani breaking the tradition of her family's women not working after marriage.
Addressing Rani's decision to work even after her marriage with Aditya, Pamela had said, "I don't have any problem with that. There was a tradition in the Chopra family that the Chopra women don't act or go on the sets. But in the face of love, you don't make such stupid distinctions".

In the same interviews, Pamela had said that Rani was the kind of bahu she always wanted for her son Aditya. Calling Mukerji the best for her son, Pamlea said, "I don't know about that. I can tell you that she is the perfect wife for Adi. Adi is a different person these days. He is so happy, always smiling. When he was younger, he would sing walking up the stairs; he has started doing that again. He danced at his wedding! (laughs). She has changed him for the better. And if he is happy, why should I not be happy?"
