‘I Am Extremely Sorry…’: When Shah Rukh Khan Talked About His Link-Up Rumours With Priyanka Chopra

Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra's close friendship has always been a topic of discussion within the industry as well as their fans. There was a time it raised eyebrows and sparked rumours of an alleged relationship.

The speculation reached its peak around 2011, reportedly fueled by their camaraderie during the shooting of the series Don and their frequent appearances together at various events.

Both Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra addressed the speculations in the past in separate interviews. During an interview, SRK even talked about the impact the rumours had on their friendship. The actor expressed regret and apologized to fans for any hurt caused by the speculation.

In a video from the interview, Shah Rukh Khan, seated alongside Katrina Kaif, addressed the sensitive question with sincerity. He expressed his discomfort with the fact that Priyanka was subjected to such rumors without the same level of respect he believed she deserved.

He said, "To me, what is most disturbing is the fact that a lady who's worked with me has been questioned, and somewhere down the line, she's not being shown the kind of respect I show her or all the women. I think it's a little disrespectful."

The actor went on to extend an apology to his fans, clarifying that the apology was not an admission of guilt but rather an expression of regret because Priyanka Chopra is a close friend who holds a special place in his heart.

"I'm extremely sorry about that. Sorry means... it's not directly because of anything I've done but because she's my friend. She's one of the closest friends I have, very close to my heart, and always will be," King Khan went on to add in the video.

He also recalled the first time he saw Priyanka Chopra during a beauty pageant, where her Miss World journey began and added, "She's a little girl who started her Miss India or Miss World crowning with me-I don't remember. We've shared some of the nicest moments on screen as friends, and it's unfortunate. It's extremely unfortunate and sad for me to think that, you know, a friendship gets a little soiled."
