The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor in leading roles, while Akhay Kumar had a brief appearance. Directed by legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, there's an interesting story attached to the film.

Although Akshay Kumar is among the biggest stars of Bollywood now, the actor had his share of ups and downs during the initial days of his career.
The story dates back to the time when legendary director Yash Chopra was planning to make Dil To Pagal Hai and wanted to cast Jackie Shroff for the role of Ajay, a childhood friend of Pooja (Madhuri Dixit), who is secretly in love with her.
However, he later roped in Akshay Kumar, as he thought a young actor would do justice to the role. Akshay Kumar's role was small, but he was in second lead along with Shah Rauh Khan.
Akshay Kumar movies were performing underwhelmingly at the box office at that time, and Yash Chopra was under a lot of pressure as many suggested him to drop the actor. As the shoot was over, he couldn't have done anything now.
But the issue started when the Selfiee actor approached the makers for payment after the release, and per reports, Chopra told him that he should not have asked for the payment as he should feel grateful to be a part of the film as it was only delivering flops.
This miffed Akshay, who then decided to never work with Yash Raj Films again until after 11 years, when he united with the production house for Tashan in 2008. The project went on the floor only after they agreed to pay him the desired remuneration.
Akshay recently starred in YRF's Samrat Prithviraj, which was released in 2022.
