Salman
Khan's
grand
Eid
parties
are
always
special.
But
this
year,
the
celebrations
were
extra
special
for
one
particular
family.
Among the many friends and acquaintances that attended the do, were estranged siblings Amisha and Ashmit Patel, who were literally forced into sitting across from each other to sort out their differences by a very persuasive Khan.
Cordial relations
It was a meeting that very few know about, including members of the Khan family like Sohail and Arpita, who were unaware and busy looking after the guests.
Says a source present at the party, "Ashmit and Amisha have not been on talking terms for the last two years. But lately, they've been cordial with each in public.
This time too when they came face-to-face at Salman's Eid party, they greeted each other formally. Salman comes from a very close-knit family and is extremely close to his sisters, Alvira and Arpita.
The formal, awkward greeting that Amisha and Ashmit exchanged troubled him, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and make the evening special."
While everyone was engrossed in the revelry, Salman took the brother-sister duo to a secluded room in his house for a closed-door meeting.
Emotional meeting
Says the source, "They were locked in for quite a long time. Bhai (Salman) spoke to Ashmit and Amisha and encouraged them to speak to each other. Eventually, both of them got very emotional." The source adds that the outcome of the meeting was very satisfactory, as they all emerged from the room looking extremely happy.
"They've been warring for years and peace is always a long process. However, the ice was broken that evening.
Salman is hopeful that they will eventually be able to get past their problems. At Farah Khan's wedding two years ago, Salman patched up with Shah Rukh in a very emotional manner. The two of them have never had a problem since then."
Ashmit was reluctant to talk about his meeting with Amisha. However, he didn't deny Salman's gesture. He simply said, "I don't want to talk about it as it is very personal. What happened was a family matter and I have never been comfortable talking about personal things."
Amisha was unavailable for comment.
