Although, the National Awards ceremony has not yet been held officially, as per sources the Best Actor award might be conferred upon Amitabh Bachchan for his portrayal of a teacher of a deaf, blind and mute girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black. Bachchan has earlier won the National Award for Best Actor for his films Saat Hindustani and Agneepath.

Sources seem to have learnt about the winners beforehand. The Best Actress award winner is Sarika for her role of a mother affected by communal riots in Parzania, directed by Rahul Dholakia. The same film also has picked up the Best Director Award. Buddhadev Dasgupta's Bengali film Kalpurush was chosen as the Best Film. The National Awards Jury is headed by old time actress, B Saroja Devi.

The Awards were supposed to be announced in Delhi on Monday. However, the ceremony has been delayed until further notice. This decision was met with a lot of resentment among the film fraternity. The Awards function will officially take place at a later date.
