Priyanka Chopra speaks on men and marriage

By Staff

She is young, gorgeous and successful. Surely, Priyanka Chopra must be attracting a lot of attention from the opposite sex. But what is it that attracts her to a man? And has she given marriage a thought? Read on to find out...

Firstly, tell us how do you manage to maintain this fantastic figure of yours?
Actually, I don't really do much about it. I was blessed with high metabolism! Besides that, nothing much!

While Miss India, were you aware that it could be your platform for Bollywood?
Well, I knew that it could be a great platform for anything. Thinking about the film industry didn't really come into my mind till I won. A lot of people started offering me roles and then I decided thinking about it as a career. I was really young so I didn't really go into it with an agenda in mind. Everything sort of happened.

The title of Miss World adds value to your name. So did you have any struggle in Bollywood at all?
Actually there was! My first film, The Hero came to me because I won the title. Then I did Andaaz which was again a small part. It was an uphill sort of walk for me.

You went to school in both Queens and Newton. You had the honor of being the only Asian singer in a choir. Tell us about that experience.
Well my mom's family lives here. (Queens) I had come here for vacations and I happened to stay. I did my high school here. I was actually the only Asian in the choir. How do you know that? (Laughs)

How would you compare schooling in India and US?
They're both really different from each other. I feel it is way more difficult to study in India because the curriculum there is far ahead in terms of how much we study in one particular standard. The US on the other hand is more practical. India is more based on theory. I think Indian schools are expanding that now. Now students can see what they are actually learning.

Men must be hitting on you all the time. How do you handle the situation?
For me, men only hit on me in my movies. It has never happened to me in my real life. I don't know how it is when guys hit on you. Because they somehow just don't hit on me. I kind of wish they did though.

Your success has been very rapid. Did you anticipate that when you started off?
Not at all. I didn't think I could act. I didn't think I was going to be an actor. Everything happened to me, by the grace of God and I am extremely humbled and flattered by the way the industry has accepted me. I never expected it to happen at all.

Have you given marriage a thought?
I don't think of marriage! I am just 23 right now. I think there is a long way for me to go. There should be someone I like enough to marry him! Nobody like that is in the horizon. If it is supposed to happen, it will.

What kind of qualities do you want in your spouse?
I have a really long list. He's gotta be really funny. He has to be intelligent and should be able to speak about anything and everything. He has to be taller than me. I guess he has to be sincere and love me for what I am.

Is it okay if he is a Bollywood hero?
It's okay if he is anyone, as long as he falls in love with me and I fall in love with him.

Describe a typical day in Priyanka's life when she is shooting.
God! That's a crazy day. It starts really early because I usually have 7am shifts. It starts at about 5:30 and I leave for work at 6:30. Usually it's a 7 to 9 shift. If I finish off early in the evening, I have a photo-shoot or something. Then I come home by 11, have dinner and go to bed.
